Our Background

Hinton Auto Transport Inc. was founded by Gregory Hinton on November 22, 1999. He had been hauling cars with Allied System for 22 years when he decided he wanted to work for himself. He got a loan from a company out in Michigan and got his first truck. Gregory’s son, Troy Gwinn, joined the company fresh out of high school, eager to travel and make some money. Soon after, we got a second truck and were a two-man team for quite some time.

After a couple of years, we sold both 9-car trucks and bought two 3-car trucks. Then we started shipping outside of Georgia: South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia. We obtained contacts at CarMax and Hertz in 2003. By 2005, we were running cars from Buford to New York City. Shortly after, Gregory opened Offshore Logistics and shipped cars to Nigeria. It was until around 2009 that we bought a third truck and officially hired another driver. By this point, we were primarily running for CarMax until about 2015 when we started hauling Chryslers for JMN.

After Gregory passed away in March 2017, Troy went to New Orleans, LA to work for the railroad, and Gregory’s wife, Arlene, took over the company. After a few months, Arlene wanted to sell the business, so Troy came back to Georgia and became CEO. Once Arlene passed in 2021, Troy acquired two more trucks and hired a handful of new drivers. Today, we own five trucks and have almost a dozen owner-operators, and a few sub-contractors. Our goal is to efficiently ship vehicles for our clients and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
